Our Design Engineers support this vision by producing original design solutions and recommendations on assigned products. They evaluate and test products to support revisions, which help us make our products better. Design Engineers ensure that we have the right product, at the right time, with the right results for everyone.

Reporting to the Product Innovation Laboratory Manager, the role of the Design Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, development, launch and sustaining engineering for existing and future hearth products. The work will directly support the laboratory’s goal to develop and launch products that address short, medium and long-term needs of the business and ultimately to help grow the business.

What you will do:

  • Participate in defining aesthetic, functional and technical specifications for product concepts in collaboration with core team members.
  • Iterate upon existing appliance designs or create new designs to meet aesthetic, functional and technical requirements.
  • Support the creation of functional prototypes.
  • Lead and support technical evaluation of product designs to ensure they meet all safety, performance, and quality requirements for internal and external customers.
  • Effectively define and execute performance test plans and write new test procedures as needed.
  • Produce and maintain data for technical projects.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and reports for assigned products.
  • Lead and support troubleshooting of field issues and provide technical support for existing hearth products.
  • Lead and support design changes for existing hearth products. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 0-2 years of engineering experience
  • Ability to read and interpret highly technical or complex data, information, and project drawings
  • Self-starter, able to complete projects with limited direction and communicate results
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
